FOS! for the win!

I have been getting a lot of stuff done and out the door! YEY! So many UFOs that were taking up space! I just had to grab them and start to finish them! So..I did.

First up is Barbie's skully dress! 100% angroa makes this a pricey stylish wear for the undisputed Queen of toy fashion...I knit this pretty white dress with pink trim in just a few short hours. :D Looks wonderful and Barbie will love it.
It took a bit of work and very small needles. =D I also put in a little bit of my personal side by Knitting in a pink skull on the bottom edge of the dress.

Next up on the train are two baby sweaters the 5 hour baby sweaters by Lorraine Major. The first was knit in dream in color, a wonderful superwash wool yarn. I altered the pattern a bit and knit short sleeves on this version! I think it makes it look charming. A beautiful little caplet. This pink one was knit for my friend Shelly who is expecting her second daughter in the next few weeks!

This 100% wool version was knit with the long sleeves as the pattern called for. This was knit with 1 skein noro kureon, and 2 skeins of lambs pride worsted. :)This will be my display as the moment this is washed ..goodbye ...man I didn't think that through did I? lol.

And last but not least my cinnamon twist baby hat! also 100% wool. This will definately keep a new born head warm. I am considering sewing in a soft liner to make the hat extra warm without being itchy. This was an improvised design tha turned out super cute!

HOLY COW! I'm back!

Hello everyone! I'm back and knitting up a storm. I'm writing a new pattern, using a few other patterns as my base I am inventing a new pattern! yey! This blue cape is going to be called "The Prince Blitz cape." it's a wonderfully quick little think I'm finding.
I am unventing two things. the first being Lorrine Major's Quick baby sweater. I'm knitting the yoke, and skipping the sleeves, I plan to then continue in (k1 row), (k3, p to last 3 sts, k3) for a few rows then start an increase in the back that will be on both sides, to let it flow out from the yoke like a king's cape would. ^^ it's gonna be awesome. I will but a gold button (hope fully I can find one with a lion) to sew to one side of the cape and make an icord loop to go around it to keep the cape on.
After I finish with this I plan to knit a second one, in purple, with a silver button (hopefully I can find one just like the gold one) and call it the Princess Serenity Baby Cape. So all in all a lot going on! I've got pictures in this post as you can see of my progress.

I told you I started a baby Surprise jacket by EZ ...well yeah the cotton twist ..twisted a little to much for me ..I ripped it out. I am tired and exausted, but there are a few things I would like to point everyone to one is a website called

I started EZ's baby surprise jacket, in Tahki cotton twist..I like washable things. I don't know how much of it I will get done. Our friend Joe lost his brother to Suicide at the ISU campus, he died in the science lab, we'll miss him, he was so sweet and kind to me. I just feel so bad that I only met him once, I wish there was more I could do for Joe, and for my boyfriend. It's hard.

I hope all these things get better.

Pocket Scarf

I'm using that Barbie knitter! I made a little scarf I got it to the length I wanted then used 16" addi turbos to take the thing off the knitter without loosing all the stitches. I then cast off 8 stitches and continued onto the other 8 and i added stitches at the front and back of each knit row until I got it long enough to cover one half. This is a tube scarf with a pocket! I love it! don't you? My model is great too..he works for cheerios!

I am really psyched! I'm going to go see the Stephen King movie tonight 1408. Then, on the 3rd of July, (thanks mom in advance for watching Trent), I'm going to see TRANSFORMERS! YEY! I'll let you know how it ends....just kidding..I'll tell you if it's worth seeing or not.

As for knitting I've been using my Mattel Barbie knitter a lot. The cotton turned out really well being thicker than say the acrylic or the wool. :) The 3 cotton thing was a mistake I took off the machine ...I like it...it's a little flower..may find a way to finish it.

The picture below is not my knitter, this is a googled photo. This is what my knitter looks like, except my sticker that says Barbie is rubbing off. All of the other models like this Mattel put out were called Magic Knitters, came in red/yellow, pink/lime and brown/cream from what I have seen. I saw some really interesting knitting things in an online mag (see link below) and I got inspired. The Big Move

I'm working on it!

That's all I can say. Today, with the help of my little hatch back I got my son's crib to the new house, only now it's not a crib, it's a toddler bed. The funny thing is, he gets in it by himself and lays down! Took a nap all on his own this afternoon! Someone pinch me. I think I need to go to Toys R' Us this evening to get a bed rail for the side, just at night so he doesn't roll off.

In knitting news I went on a free pattern spree at hobby lobby, and Hancock fabrics, grabbed up all the good knitting and crochet patters. SO MUCH FUN! I hope to update you all further on my mis haps and antics, definitely more knitting stuff to come, promise. I'll talk to you all later when I get a chance to type more.

Yeah this is going to be quite a big post lots of cool stuff to let you in on.
Ok here we go! I machine knit a little bag with handles ...it's pink and displayed on the blocking mat. Paton's Classic wool.

I also spend some time on my mom's fine gauge knitting machine with the punch card with some black and pink yarn. Turned out good to me if you ask.

I also picked up some easter egg dye for .10 cents a box...and I dyed some wool.. ..not as rich as kool-aid but none the less awesome. I had some pictures but they just didn't come out so well. but it was a lot of fun and I'll try to get pics up later.

A dear friend from my Knitting club is leaving us. For good reasons Mike and her husband are moving to Indiana to be with her Father in law. She told me to come over and get some yarn...I had no idea what she ment...aparently she ment ALL THIS!
I really think there is 100 LBS of yarn here...really.

Spring Fling

My mother took me to Peru IN. To Spring Fling Hosted by the Knit Knack Shop. I had a blast got away with 5 cones of yarn and I'm trying to find out how to get together $300.00 ....mom's friend has a bulky brother machine with a ribber that she's willing to sell. I would love that. Sounds like fun.

I also got to see a great seminar on knitting Sideways socks on the knitting machine. One class on Taking a hand knitting pattern and making it a machine knitting pattern. I took a color course, and in the afternoon I took a class on button holes, zippers, and pockets. I also sat in a little on a class called "The ravings of a 20 year machine knitter.) LOL! I liked it. I loved it. Viva La Knitting Machine! AH HA!

The instructors were Lora Kinnan, Tricia Shafer(you saw her on knitty gritty with her machine making a hammock), Sandee Cherry (this woman gave my mom her first knitting machine lessons.), Deb Oswald, and Lea-Ann McGregor!

Awesome stuff.

Lots of things! I went to a wedding reception last night at the coolest house on the block! OH LORD was it beautiful..of course the owner was an interior designer.

I also picked up a new book..a gift from a close friend.

I all so picked up a really great ceramic display hand, and a body form. The body form is at my mother's in the knitting shed..but I have the hand..here...

and she's handy! She's wearing a Fetching Glove.

Working on socks

Yeah I know that is a crummy picture, but it's the best I can do. Working on it some more while the Trenton sleeps. He's been a good boy all day! :) WHEE! I tried my best to use two circular needles and do two socks at once but I was having pulls along the split of the two needles the stitches were getting pulled and it looked awful! So I'm working each sock solo on my cute plastic vintage DP needles. WHEE!

NOT knitting for Barbie anymore!

Ok I said knitting for Barbie last time but for the life of me I can't find my Barbie doll! ACK! So I swooped by the dollar store like a crafter in a rage and got this 11.5 inch fashion doll. The pattern in the mag for said dress was messed up half way through the design so I put a few rows of my own on and made this sweater. As seen on the 11.5 inch fashion doll that came without a name, I shall call her Blondie. Because that's just cool.

I also have a lot of patterns for Hats for dolls like this, Barbie, Blondie, and the like. I hated all of them all so I created this hat! I knit this with Blue Sky Alpacas 100% Sport weight.

Seed Stitch Stocking Cap
Mats Size 2 Needles (use two double pointed ones to work straight for ease of Knitting)
Cast on 26 stitches
Row1: (K1, P1) Continue to end
Row2: (P1, K1) Continue to end
Repeat these two rows Once more.
Work 7 Rows of St st.
Next Row: Dec Row - K2 across (13 stitches)
Next Row: P1 Row
Next Row: K2 Across until 1 st. remains. K1 st. (7 stitches)

Cut yarn and draw through the last 7 stitches bind off and sew up the back seam of the hat! TA DA! FINISHED! Instant Gratification.

Here's my play on it.

1. I will only be knitting from my yarn stash startin 2/14/07 and going through 6/15/07 (my anniversary.) This is so hard for me!

My rules:

1. You may only buy yarn for current projects in that exact dye lot only when it will make it possible to complete a project.

2. I may use profits from craft shows only to purchase more yarn.

3. I may use yarn from my mother's stash should mine run out! (Sorry mom) ( also I have a knitting machine I may get a lot done in the next few days.)

4. If anyone gives me a gift of yarn I can accept it. Other wise I am to stay away from hobby lobby, Michaels, Walmart, the needleworks store, and Klose Knit.

Yeah I woke up this morning and it was awful outside, I felt bad for the man outside with the snowblower, because he would pass by and not three minutes later the snow he had removed was placed back. insane.

Speed Knitting and 12" of snow

I got my speed knitting book in. It's by Kris Percival. She is also the author of Knitting pretty. I decided to look through the book and found the Toddler tank top, after deciding to make the largest size (3T) I started it. When I started it was early in the afternoon and just before midnight i had it done. So here it is. I knit this in Rowan Cotton tape. Not what the directions called for but it was a wonderful use of some of the stray little balls in my stash. Lined in a little blue Rowan cotton tape I had left over. You can knit the largest size of that tank top using TWO 50g balls of Rowan Cotton Tape, However if you want a colored edge, you'll need a little scrap or another ball.

My husband is getting paid to stay home tomorrow, there is an INSANELY huge snow storm heading our way ..as much as 12-15" BUURRRR!

Machine Knitting on my Singer MK-70

Yes it tis true I have a singer MK-70 also known as the fold up knitting machine and I love it. I'm working on all sorts of neat things..hoping to clear out my stash a little faster then I would have just hand knitting. I am continuing hand knitting. I attempted to knit socks on two circular needles...someone should have shot me I sucked.... my mother's friend is going to have to explain it to me because I'm lost.

My mother gave me a mid-gauge knitting machine a singer MK-70 also known as the FOLD up knitting machine and I love it and now I have gotten the hang of knitting on it and I can also knit cables on it. so last night I decided I would knit a little on it so I knit a scarf out of Lion Brand Micro-Spun it's blue! and I did a few misc cables through it so it's just a play around scarf but it's the first thing I made on my Mid-Gauge machine.

I put my machine away last night but I'll put it up and take pictures of it later today THANKS MOM!

Getting ahead of myself

I started crocheting not to long ago I'm not fully aware of the process yet but I do know how to single crochet and double half crochet. So about two months ago I thought I would take this brown color and this green color and make a purse...well..I didn't get it finished and in the process of removing the circle from a yarn knot the yarn broke, so I tied it off and got this funky head band...I think I like it.

yeah that's all for now I'm sorting my stash...I have alot ...and I mean alot of yarn.. :)

and does anyone know where my Debbie Bliss baby knits for beginners book went!? I CAN'T FIND IT! ACK!

Calorimetry

So I found this pattern for Calorimetry on knitty.com and at my mother's monthly knit group all the ladies were talking about a similar vintage pattern for this interesting head scarf. I figured out the pattern I did! MY GAGUE IS CORRECT! What the hell went Wrong!? It's HUGE! I am not sure if it's meant to go around a bare head or if like the pattern comments on if it's to go around a mass of hair. I am not sure. I don't think I read the pattern wrong..but I might have.

Mine does not look like this ^ mine is 4x wider and longer

A Sheep in a hat!

I thought I would update with a picture of my Knitting Needle Collection this is not all of them but quite a few of the straight and double pointed ones. 0.o I have alot of Needles. Also in the picture is a stuffed toy of my son's it's a sheep named Curly I knit a baby hat out of a 2006 knitting Calendar, well I'm sorry bev that hat will not fit a baby 3-6 months! So it's now a nice hat for my son's sheep that has now taken a place of honor on my knitting shelf! :)

New Projects and cool stuff

First up a pair of gloves I am knitting for my mother in law, this is the first PAIR of GLOVES (those with fingers knit onto them) I have ever done. Here's the first, I should knit the second one so it's really a pair ..I doubt my mother in law has use for one glove.

I am also starting a Child's Nordic snowflake Pullover from the book 'Knitting for baby' by Melanie Falick and Kristin Nicholas. I am so super excited and the pattern seems so easy after I gave it a read. Here's a look at the book and at the pullover I started. I decided to use green I love green..

And finaly a picture in my son wearing his University of Illinois sweatshirt! It has a picture of the Chief, the NCAA termed Chief Illiniwek as a "hostile and abusive" symbol, and banned the university from hosting postseason activities as long as it continues to use the symbol, or the mascot. So my son can wear it and the team is fine!

All right so I started a pattern from the Last minute knitted gifts book. I'm doing the neck scarf the triangle knit on the bias, but I am thinking about adding I-Cord to both sides and making it a head scarf not sure. *shrug* we'll see how it turns out, this is what I have so far.

I also thought you might want to see my husband sporting his "I just woke up" face and his Don King hair. I really love this man I do!

I have saved the best for last my adorable son...Trent. He was playing and thought he would pose for some pictures.

Mag Discovery

It's a touch expensive at 14.99 an issue but there are only 4 a year. I would opt for the subscription for $35.00 a month.

I got some new yarn today at the Klose Knits here in Champaign Il. I got some Blue Sky Alpacas sport weight yarn in 50g hanks. Super soft..they will make good baby socks I'm sure! I also picked up two more pairs of the Blue Sky Alpacas knitting needles I have no more need to buy knitting needles thank god! I got sizes 5 and 3.

I am also working on some fetching gloves from Knitty.com again for a VERY special friend. check these green babies out!

My knitting Sent me to the ER

So I'm knitting a baby hat 0k? On US size 7 DP knitting needles. I lay the fourth needle between my legs on the floor and look at my book, I move my right leg to sit Indian Style and my right heel is pierced, and it hammers the other end one half inch into my thigh.

OUCH!

I had to get a tet/dipt shot.

Ok so our bank made an error...a MAJOR error..we suddenly found ourselves $1018 over drawn...so what happened? I wrote a check at the store for $10.18 for stuff for my son, the bank cashed it for $1018.00. My Dear husband and I went to the bank and this is all sorted out! THANK GOD!

Ok so I am working on a baby blanket for a girl at work who is 5 months pregnant. I am crocheting it just for timelyness and speed. I'm going to post pictures of what I have so far when I can get a good picture. I got the yarn on clearance at Hobby Lobby Yarn bee Dreamy Baby Chenille. So soft! :) By the way thanks mom for getting it for me. I wanted to show you all some of my other stuff. Like my spinning!

I have two drop spindles one is a CD spindle and one is a metal spindle with a stone spindle base. HAWT!

A finished project from a long time ago I thought was cute a skull change purse!

And last but not least my mom and I have a folder full of old vintage barbie patterns! How cool is this! I am not sure what the copywrite laws are but if these are old enough to be public domain. Who knows but here's a shot of one of the patterns, the dress is really cool and the WS is showing and makes for a great texture I think I'm going to knit this next! HAWT!

Crochet? I got that in the BAG!

So last night I made an effort to crochet not that I do this all the time, by far my mother is the best at this and it shows, she does those really fine crochet doilies with your name made into the middle. I'll see if I can upload a picture someday and show you all what I mean. However I have been working really hard. This is my crochet attempt at a punky looking purse. I used really bulky yarn and a HUGE crochet hook. *shrugs* it's cute. I also need to point out this took me less then an hour to complete.

working hard on my knitting and a little crochet to boot. Started a chunky crochet bag just to see if I can do it. Who knows. I got alot of Free Acrylic yarn from one of my mom's friends I mean I'm going to have a lot of yarn for a long time. I got some Blue Sky Alpacas 5" Double Pointed Knitting needles US Sized 5 super smooth needles they come in a set of 5 I highly recomend them to anyone doing small knitting. These are great for I-Cord too.

These are knit with Paton's Classic Merino in Red. For my Sister this Christmas.

Getting into my knitting a little more heavy handed. Working on a pair of Gloves from the Vintage Knits book by Sarah Dallas, However I am not doing a pattern with it, just a solid color, I've been seeking out a glove pattern for me to do with size 5 or 6 DPNS but I can't find any patterns online that arn't fingerless. I would like fingers in my gloves. This is my first post so I will show you my Knitting needles to get us started with this blog and in a few days I will show you more...
